BACKGROUND OF S.W.O-SOMALIA

For over two decades, Somalia has faced severe instability, marked by relentless
conflict, substantial loss of innocent lives, and extensive destruction of
infrastructure. This chaos has resulted in mass migration, predominantly to Kenya,
and a dramatic increase in Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). These disruptions
have led to acute shortages of basic necessities, with malnutrition severely
affecting children and mothers. In response to these humanitarian crises, the SWO
was established to provide essential social interventions for refugees and IDPs in
South and Central Somalia.
OBJECTIVES

OUR VISION

To be a premier organization renowned for participatory and sustainable social interventions among IDPs and host communities in South and Central Somalia.

OUR MISSION

To eradicate poverty, combat chronic Hunger, and empower marginalized groups,including low-income earners,vulnerable populations,women,and children in Somalia.

Focus Areas of the Somali Welfare Organization (SWO)

Poverty Eradication and Economic Development:

Implementing Programs to create job opportunities and Support Small Business.

 Providing Vocational Training and Financial literacy to empower individual economically.

Education:

 Enhancing access to quality education for children and adults.

 Promoting literacy and skills development through community-based educational programs.

Health and Sanitation:

 Improving access to healthcare services, including maternal and child health.

 Implementing sanitation and hygiene programs to reduce the prevalence of diseases. 

Nutrition and Food Security:

 Addressing malnutrition through food distribution and nutrition education.

 Supporting agricultural initiatives to increase food production and self-sufficiency

Environmental Sustainability:

 Conducting research on environmental issues such as climate change, water resources, and land degradation.

 Implementing projects aimed at conservation, reforestation, and sustainable land use.

Women's Empowerment:

 Promoting gender equality and empowering women through education and economic opportunities.

 Providing support services for women affected by violence and discrimination.

Peace and Good Governance:

 Promoting peacebuilding initiatives and conflict resolution at community levels.

 Encouraging good governance practices through advocacy and capacity-building programs.

Support for the Internal Displaced Persons (IDPs):

 Offering comprehensive support, including shelter, healthcare, and education, to refugees and IDPs.

 Facilitating reintegration and resettlement programs.
